FAQS

Choose fly-fishing wading boots based on the environmental conditions you encounter and your budget. We offer traditional felt sole fly-fishing wading boots for rocky or gravelly bottoms and fishing excursions that don’t require a lot of hiking. Our rubber-soled wading boots are designed to handle all terrains as well as offer comfort and stability for hiking, climbing banks, and traversing rocky bottoms. For warm-weather fishing, you may not want a full boot—our lighter-weight wading shoe might be the best choice. We offer wading boots for fly fishing at various price points so you can enjoy the features you want that fit your budget.

Orvis men’s wading boots are true to size, but it’s important to note that wading boots and street shoes are not sized with the same numbers. Our men’s wading boots are numerically one higher than a street shoe (so if you wear a 10 street shoe, you wear an 11 wading boot), but the size is equivalent. We offer a sizing chart on each boot’s product page so you can reference it for the exact size wading boot you need. So, while your wading boot size will technically be one number higher than your street shoe, it will still fit the same. Wading boots should not be tight or loose, but should fit comfortably, as you would expect from a regular hiking boot or walking shoe.

The Orvis PRO men’s wading boot weighs 50 ounces, or 3.13 pounds.

Orvis men’s wading boots are made with tech performance materials from Michelin, Clarino, and OrthoLite as well as with polyurethane, EVA, phylon compressed foam, and ripstop.

The Orvis men’s PRO wading boots are designed with a Michelin Outdoor Extreme outsole to grip the best, offering wet rubber traction superior to any other wading boot.

Orvis men’s wading boots are designed to be comfortable to wear for extended periods of fly fishing. Guides and avid anglers wear our boots from dawn until dusk and sometimes later, day in and day out. Our PRO wading boots are higher cut and lined with closed-cell foam for stronger ankle support.

Orvis men’s wading boots range from $129 for Encounters to $298 for PRO BOA wading boots. Orvis wading boots don’t come with a warranty, but they are backed by our Great Catch Guarantee of 100% customer satisfaction.
