For largemouth and smallmouth bass, we recommend a 6WT, 7WT, or 8WT fly rod, depending on the size of the flies you’re swinging. Choose a 6WT rod if you’re fishing only smallmouth since your flies will be smaller and slimmer. Choose a 7WT or 8WT rod if you’re fishing both or only largemouth.
