The Story

Enlist the services of Orvis-endorsed guide Capt. Danny Lynch on your fly-fishing trip to Charleston. Danny has a great passion for and connection with the sport of fly fishing. Like many anglers, it started in small mountain trout streams, but then naturally progressed to his home waters of Charleston, SC. As a Charleston native, he has spent his entire life exploring the amazing saltwater fishery of the Lowcountry and what it has to offer. Growing up, he has traveled to some amazing fishing destinations and fished with some incredible guides. These experiences have shaped him into the angler and professional he is today. In Danny’s words, “I have taken in many pros and cons of people I’ve had the opportunity to fish with and learn from and try to deliver the best experience on the water possible. My main priority is your safety and putting you on fish, but we should also have as much fun as we can. Rest assured, you are in good hands when you step aboard my skiff.”

Highlights:

  • Redfish, red drum, tarpon, speckled sea trout, sheepshead, flounder, jack crevalle
  • Sight fish the beautiful Lowcountry marsh
  • Guide operates safely and smoothly, and focuses on putting client on fish in a fun and stress-free environment
  • Rates start from $450 for a half-day charter
  • Excellent year-round fishing

Orvis is pleased to offer our travel customers access to two valuable services: Global Rescue travel membership and IMG Signature Travel Insurance℠.

When fishing the waters of the Lowcountry you will primarily focus on targeting redfish. Redfish are usually aggressive but can also present a very challenging experience. They are a great fish to pursue for all angling skill levels. Throughout the warmer months they can be found tailing in the marsh grass during seasonal flood tides. When the weather begins to cool off and water temperatures drop, they can be found in large schools along mud flats and oyster banks.

The Charleston Harbor and surrounding areas produce a world-class fishery that allows sight fishing opportunities throughout the entire year. The Charleston Peninsula is a central point for many rivers, inlets, and waterways, filled with marsh grass, oysters, pluff mud, and sand bars. All these factors create a thriving ecosystem for many species. A Lowcountry sunset along the spartina marsh grass, filled with tailing redfish, is truly a sight that never gets old.
