The Story

Orvis Chesapeake Bay Fly School, we’ll help you master the basics OR get to the next level. It is hosted by Fly School USA. We teach the Orvis Progressive Method of Fly-Casting Instruction and specialize in working with novice anglers and anglers looking to improve their skills. We’ll help you to learn the latest fly-casting techniques and explore fly-fishing equipment with focus on both fresh and saltwater fishing. So, if freshwater is more your thing, many of these techniques can also help to improve your abilities to catch freshwater fish. Our clinics combine classroom knowledge with hands-on instruction and video recording (Two-Day School) to help guide you.

You'll cover it all at the Chesapeake Beach, Maryland Fly Fishing School:

  • Fly Casting Techniques – including the double-haul, plus video reviews (Two-Day School) of your casting
  • Essential fly-fishing knots
  • How to choose your gear and tackle
  • Demonstrations on fishing flies both in salt and fresh water
  • Proper fly selection for both saltwater and fresh water species
  • How to read water and currents
  • How to play, land, and safely release fish
