These schools are located throughout Jackson Hole and the greater Yellowstone ecosystem. Starting with our private Schoolhouse on the Snake, guests will be treated to private water access on the world-famous Snake River surrounded by wildlife and Teton views. Our Schoolhouse is a full-service fly-fishing school that offers the perfect setting to learn in a fun, hands-on environment. JHFFS provides the latest Orvis gear for our guests; however, for anyone interested in using their own rod, we recommend a 9 foot 5-wt., but anything from 4-6 is appropriate. All waders and boots are appropriate except for those taking place in Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone has a ban against all felt bottom boots. No studded wading boots in drift boats, please.
We recommend bringing the following:
Although we have the ability to operate year-round, our main season focuses on May through October. May through June is our runoff season and presents the opportunity to chase trophy brown trout down on the Green and New Fork rivers or head up to Yellowstone for a scenic fly-fishing experience surrounded by majestic views and wildlife. July through October focuses on backcountry walk and wade schools in the Bridger-Teton National Forest and world-famous Snake River from our private Schoolhouse on the Snake. Drift boat and floating fly-fishing schools are also available daily, taking guests on a beautiful river float while fishing for our native cutthroat trout.
