Orvis-Endorsed Fly-Fishing Guide Service
Enjoy the expert wisdom of Orvis-endorsed fly-fishing guide Ken Kalil on your trip to Lake Placid, New York:
"The Kalil name has been embedded in Adirondacks since the early 1930s by my grandfather, as a name recognized for hard work, honesty, and integrity. We take great pride keeping this recognition alive. Family members in the business continue to fan the flames. With 20 years' experience as head guide, manager of the 2005 Orvis Dealer of the Year and the Orvis Company's first full dealer, we know what it takes to ensure customers receive a patient, professional experience. Ken offers great teaching ability, and a relentless commitment to conservation. Keeping our operation small ensures quality. Our focus is on quality trips, not quantity. Our goal is to be better in character and life pursuits than we were the day before, and we carry that over to our guiding services. When not on the water, we are constantly honing the qualities of what we feel make up a great guide. This includes coaching youth on xc skis, in character, skills, keeping fitness in our life, and taking a lead passing along a message of conservation in the community."
Our services are found in the northern Adirondack Park, a state park four times the size of Yellowstone; the vast, wild forest of the Adirondacks are dotted with endless amounts of water and wildlife throughout. Drastically different than what many think of as New York State, and with endless amounts of water dotting the landscape, the Adirondacks offer countless opportunities to pursue many species of fish in a wild setting. Come join us on the wonderful waters that await."
Orvis is pleased to offer our travel customers access to two valuable services: Global Rescue travel membership and IMG Signature Travel Insurance℠.

March 15-November 30.
Much of our fishing takes place in the High Peaks region of the northern Adirondack Park, a landscape shaped by the highest mountains of New York. The Adirondack landscape is blanketed with dense forest, countless bodies of water, and mountain marshland. Within this landscape is a variety of wildlife such as moose, deer, bears, beavers, eagles osprey, and loons. The terrain of the park can be rough at times, however, we try our best to tailor our trips to the angler's needs, with most of our fishing locations five to 15 minutes through the mildest terrain.
March/April/October/November in upstate NY can go from single digits and all out winter to 70s F and bright sun.

July/August temps can be in the 90s, and as low as the 40s. Rain showers can move in very quickly and warm, dry days can bring evening temps in 30s. September daytime air temps can often be in the high 50s and 60s. The chance of unstable fall weather with mornings starting out in the low 30s increases towards the second half of this month.
