Orvis-Endorsed Fly-Fishing Lodge
Enjoy the Orvis-endorsed lodge at Nemacolin on your fly-fishing excursion to Pennsylvania. The Orvis-Endorsed fly-fishing program at Nemacolin is extremely unique. We are blessed to have multiple freestone streams and tail water rivers between Southwestern Pennsylvania and Western Maryland. This allows us the opportunity for true year-round trout fishing, targeting native, wild, and stocked trout. The diversity of rivers and streams gives us the ability to cater to all levels of fly-fishing experience and ability. Part of what makes fly fishing at Nemacolin a true world-class experience is our recently renovated/restored half-mile of trout stream, Meadow Run. This stretch of water is exclusive to clients fishing with Nemacolin guides. This allows us to provide a truly private fly-fishing experience for our clients. The work Clearwater Restorations provided created optimal trout habit and holding water, without compromising the natural look of the stream.
We are one of 15 locations for the 2-Day Orvis Fly-Fishing School. We offer half- and full-day guided fishing trips by reservation, both floating and walk/wade.
Our skilled guides pride their intimate knowledge of all our rivers and streams in the Laurel Highlands, and their ability to teach and instruct all levels of anglers. We specialize in making memories and providing an angling experience that would rival anything in the world. So, if you are looking to improve on your angling ability, start your fly-fishing journey, or just enjoy seeing/fishing new water, all coupled with a world class resort, please allow the Orvis-endorsed guides at Nemacolin to assist you in all of the above.
Orvis is pleased to offer our travel customers access to two valuable services: Global Rescue travel membership and IMG Signature Travel Insurance℠.

All year-round.
Trout, year-round: This is true match-the-hatch fishing. We see multiple species/hatches of mayflies, caddisflies, stoneflies, and midges. We will target fish using multiple techniques.
Mid/late summer: We also will target smallmouth bass. This is done with streamers or popping bugs.
Late spring/summer: We will target carp if the client is interested. This is done by sight casting to mudding/feeding fish with various carp patterns (stillwater).
Summer: Pond fishing for bass and pan-fish (usually reserved for our younger fishing guests).
Nemacolin is situated in the Laurel Highlands region of Southwestern Pennsylvania. The elevation of our fisheries is between 1700-2300 feet, which means they contain mostly cold water fish (Rainbow, Brown, and Brook Trout). Due to the high elevation of the property the terrain can vary heavily from steep wooded hillsides to flat shrub floodplains. Rhododendron and Mountain Laurel are the primary forms of vegetation that line the sides of our streams and rivers. We fish multiple types of water from small mountain headwaters to large fast flowing tail waters. The area truly exemplifies the beauty of fishing in the Appalachian Mountains.
We provide a private fly-fishing experience at Meadow Run, our exclusive half mile of private stocked water. This medium classic, free stone stream has been restored to provide a sustainable environment for trout. It is an excellent place to learn the art of fly fishing, and catch a lot of fish in the process. Ohiopyle State Park also contains a large portion of Meadow Run, along with other great fisheries. The park is only 15 minutes from the main resort property, and has a multitude of public water.
The Nemacolin fly shop has float and wade services available on the Youghiogheny River and surrounding headwaters. The 'Yough River' is an excellent spring trout fishery, and is available for full or half day adventures. We also offer wading trips on the Casselman River, which is our only true warm water fishery in the region. The Youghiogheny River is controlled by dam and fishing success often dependent on water release. This means the spring and early summer are the most productive seasons to book a trip. Our Orvis Endorsed Guides are also licensed to take full and half day trips into Western Maryland, only a 45 minute drive from property. Maryland is home to one of the only wild trophy trout streams in the east, along with other amazing fisheries
