Ruggs’ terrain is quintessentially Eastern Oregon—rugged, rural, and steeped in natural beauty. Its rolling hills, water features, and open spaces make it a picturesque setting, ideal for ranching and outdoor pursuits. The rolling hills and grasslands provide relatively easy terrain for those who prefer less strenuous activity. Open fields near creek valleys are accessible for hunters who may have mobility limitations or who prefer shorter, more straightforward walks. Many parts of the terrain are suitable for accessing by all-terrain utility vehicles, allowing hunters with limited mobility to reach prime upland habitat.
Ruggs Ranch is located 18 minutes away from the 4300' Lexington, Oregon airport, which will accommodate most intermediate size aircraft. The nearest commercial airport is located just 1.5 hours away in the Tri-Cities (PSC).
Fall (September–November)
Winter (December–March)
The climate at Ruggs is typical of Eastern Oregon—semi-arid with significant temperature swings between day and night and across seasons. The dry conditions, coupled with the varied seasons, contribute to the region’s rugged charm and make it a prime location for outdoor activities.
Our wingshooting packages start at $3,995 for a three-night, two-day experience.
A 15% gratuity will be added to the cost of your hunt and distributed evenly between all staff members. This does not include the gratuity for your guide, we suggest a minimum gratuity of $100 per person, per day for your guide and ask that you provide this gratuity directly to your guide at the conclusion of your trip.
We offer the opportunity to hunt upland game birds such as Hungarian Partridge, Chukar, Valley Quail, and Pheasant.
Our lodge offers a unique wingshooting experience with both wild and managed game bird populations. This approach ensures diverse hunting opportunities and a consistent, high-quality experience for all our guests. Our expansive property is home to a thriving population of wild game birds, including Hungarian Partridge, Chukar, Valley Quail, and Pheasant. These birds inhabit the natural landscapes of our rolling hills, grasslands, and rugged canyons, providing a truly wild experience. To complement the wild bird population, we also maintain a carefully managed population of game birds. This allows us to offer an extended hunting season, abundant opportunities, and the option for managed hunts with unlimited bag limits. The managed birds are raised and released in a way that mimics their natural behaviors, ensuring a realistic hunting experience.
No, while there are many parts of our ranch that have a mix of wild and managed bird populations, our wild bird hunts take place away from our managed properties where wild bird populations naturally exist. Our wild bird hunts are 100% wild birds, it’s something we take great pride in being able to offer to our guests.
Our managed hunting season runs from October 1st through March. The wild bird season starts mid-October through the conclusion of January.
