Orvis-Endorsed Fly-Fishing Lodge on Abaco, in the Bahamas: a 40 minute flight from the US mainland.
100% customer satisfaction has been our commitment since 1856. It's who we are. If you aren't happy with a product or service, we want to know about it. And we'll make it right.
THAT'S THE ORVIS WAY.
The Delphi Club
Enjoy Orvis-endorsed lodging at The Delphi Club on your fly-fishing trip to Abaco, Bahamas. The Club is close to the world-class bonefishing flats of the Abaco Marls, where large numbers of uneducated bonefish provide fantastic sport for anglers in uncrowded waters. There are also superb white-sand wading flats at Cherokee Sound and at Cross Harbour, where larger and more seasoned bonefish, and occasional permit, present a special challenge. On any given day, Delphi has boats in the Marls, Cherokee Sound, Moore's Island, Sandy Point, and some other secret places. Delphi was designed in the style of an 18th-century colonial house, with large wraparound verandas. The 8-bedroom lodge stands on a high ridge to catch the sea breezes and panoramic ocean views. It’s a romantic getaway and luxury bonefish resort all rolled into one. The Delphi Club is not a hotel in any conventional sense. Its atmosphere and the way in which it is run are more akin to a private country house party: elegant yet informal—and very relaxed.
Orvis is pleased to offer our travel customers access to two valuable services: Global Rescue travel membership and IMG Signature Travel Insurance℠.
Six of the Club’s eight bedrooms are on the ground floor. There are two more on the third floor. All have lovely ocean views and there is a choice of super-king-size beds or queen-size twins. All in all, Delphi can accommodate 12 anglers in their own beds or 16 guests with couples. Outside, the landscaped gardens feature bougainvillea, frangipani, oleander, hibiscus, ficus, and a wide variety of palms and other shrubs. There’s an attractive infinity pool and patio with comfortable sun loungers. The Lodge is run in the style of a country house party, where the characters change from time to time. Everyone generally eats together at one big table from a set menu, with limited choices. There are no bellhops or room service—it’s just a relaxed gathering of kindred spirits in a spectacular location with the best of everything.
A typical day at Delphi starts with breakfast at 7am to meet the guides by 8am. Packed coolers and lunches will keep you company during the fishing day, which wraps up around 4pm. There’s time for a shower or a dip in the pool before cocktail hour at 6:30pm, followed by dinner at 7:15pm. Rental gear is available at the lodge, as well as a full-service tackle shop for anything you may have forgotten. For the non-anglers, the Delphi Club beach and pool are a great option. We can also arrange golf, snorkeling, guided tours, blue hole excursions, boat trips to some of Abacos outer cays, and much more!
Abaco is one of the greatest flats fisheries in the world, no doubt about it. We routinely send guests to fish in water between 6 inches and 2 feet deep—a veritable sight-fishing paradise. Over 200 square miles of prime flats habitat are at our doorstep, and we often trailer boats to venture further around the island and open up fisheries unavailable to other lodges. Most fishing is done from the bow of a Hell’s Bay skiff; there are also multiple opportunities to wade during the day.
Packages range from solo boat/room to shared boat/room. Rates vary between peak season (February–May) and Off-Peak Season (October–January, June, July). Some of the best opportunities for permit and rested flats are during the Off-Peak Season.
