At full capacity, we can sleep 22 guests in 6 separate and one duplex cabin. All meals are served family-style in a warm and inviting dining room in the Main Lodge. The Lodge features a spacious outside deck where you prepare for your day of fishing and is also the perfect gathering spot at the end of the day for your favorite beverage and stories. The Lodge’s living room is full of fishing memorabilia, but the main focus is a large river rock fireplace, comfortable sofas and chairs, as well as game tables. “Family” is the cornerstone of what, and why we do what we do.
Three of our seven cabins have ensuite plumbing; guests of the other four cabins utilize the central Bath House at the Camp. Actually, calling it a “Bath House” is an overly rustic description on its surface. In fact, it is possibly the best-appointed cabin on the property with spacious private showers with Broadmoor signature shampoo, conditioner and lotions, heated floors, private water closets and a spa-like vanity with full amenities. All cabins are centrally located, and none are more than a few steps from the Lodge, Bath House, or Fish House.

NON-FISHING ATTIRE: The Broadmoor Fishing Camp lodge and cabin settings are very casual and no special attire is necessary for meals. Blue jeans, khakis, shorts, casual shirts, fishing shirts are all common. Also, we'll remind you to drink a lot of water…even before you get thirsty. Your guide will have plenty of water available. Staying hydrated will reduce headaches caused by our high elevation and dry climate.
Gear Recommendations:
While we have and are happy to provide all gear, if you choose to bring your own, we would recommend having rods from 7’6” to 9’0” in weights from 4 to 6. Waders will be necessary in the spring and fall, and wet wading is standard practice mid-summer. Most of the time waist high waders are fine but chest highs will provide a little more warmth for crisp mornings.
Species:
The majority of our successful fishing is for Rainbow and Brown Trout. We have a healthy population of Cutthroat Trout and have run into a few Brook Trout! While the ‘Grand Slam” is rare, every guest has that opportunity!
Season:
The Broadmoor Fly Fishing Camp opens for business late-April and runs through the end of October. Given that we are at nearly 9000’ elevation in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, the weather in spring and fall can vary widely in temperature, though the fishing remains excellent! As a general comment on fishing: Springtime offers more productive fishing in terms of numbers of fish caught; mid-summer, we start to enjoy more prolific hatches, our trout start “looking up,” and the dry fly season really kicks off in July. Fall presents potentially the most rewarding fishing of the year. The trout are as big as they will get, they are cagey and well-educated, and the water is low and clear, making it a genuine contest between angler and fish. Then, sight fishing for very big, beautiful and smart fish is the name of the game!
Region/Terrain:
We are fortunate to be in the center of one of the last truly pristine wilderness areas in the lower 48. The Tarryall River runs directly through the property and many miles of great hiking can be easily accessed from the property into the trails of the Lost Creek Wilderness.
Additionally, we have three miles of scenic, winding spring creek style fishing a short five miles from the Lodge.
Typical Weather:
Spring and fall in the Colorado Rocky Mountains can see a wide variety of temperatures from early morning to midday. Ranges will typically go from upper 30s up to mid-50s and low 60s. With abundant sunshine, and at altitude, it always seems much warmer. It is not unusual for you to occasionally enjoy all four seasons in a single day! Summer is the most consistent weather with most days starting in the mid-50s and topping out in the high 70’s to low 80’s.
Starting from $925. See current rates at www.broadmoor.com.
Additional Activities:
In addition to world-class fly fishing, our guests regularly enjoy limitless hiking opportunities, lawn games, wildlife watching, scenic photography opportunities, and, of course, fly tying.
Other:
Due to the remote location, there is very limited cell reception, but every cabin and the main lodge has Wi-Fi. House Phones are in each accommodation, and guests may be easily reached by calling The Broadmoor directly or calling the number listed on the cabin phone.
Because of the truly wilderness characteristic of the property, we do not allow pets. The nature of the property and the diversity of terrain allows for access to all. We have even had the great pleasure of four great days of fishing with a friend who is a high-level quadriplegic!
While we practice catch & release, as a rule, our guests do have the opportunity to enjoy a river-to-table experience during their stay.
